Open Council Positions for November Election

Are you interested in serving your community? The City of Halsey will have four positions up for the November election – the Mayor and three Council positions. Halsey voters elect these positions at-large, meaning candidates can live in any area within City limits; once elected, they represent all city of Halsey constituents.

Financial reporting is filed directly with the Oregon Secretary of State, Elections Division. Please review the Candidate “Quick Guide” located on the Elections page on Campaign Finance Reporting in Oregon.  More help may be found online at: http://sos.oregon.gov/elections

The City of Halsey allows you to file your candidacy in two ways:

By Declaration:
You may file form SEL 101 and pay a $10 filing fee to declare yourself a candidate for the election.  The deadline for completing the filing process is August 26th 2022 by 4:00 pm.

By Petition:
You will need to collect a minimum of ten (10) signatures from registered voters who live inside the city limits of Halsey.  Signature sheets must be approved by the City Elections Officer before they may be circulated to collect signatures.  We encourage you to get more than ten signatures in case of any that may be invalid. There is no fee imposed with this filing. Your SEL 102, completed signature forms (SEL 121) must be submitted to the Elections Officer/Halsey City Hall no later than August 15th, 2022 by 5pm, in order to have them verified by Linn County and in case you need to obtain more signatures.

Candidate packets and forms are available on the Elections page, as well as at City Hall.

Please call or stop by if you have any questions. You may also contact the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office at 503-986-1518 or Linn County Elections at 541-967-3831 with questions.
