Public Hearing for Proposed Utility Rate Increases

Tuesday, June 14th-Council Chambers-7pm

The Halsey City Council will be discussing the following proposed utility fee increases:

  • Water – $2
  • Sewer – $1
  • Stormwater Blue Heron – $1
  • Storm Drainage $2

The increases would begin in July of 2022 with the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Revenues derived from the Water Fund and Sewer Fund are used specifically for the costs associated with the operation of the Water Plant and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  Costs associated with testing, permitting, chlorination, operation, maintenance and repair, as well as future replacement or upgrading of the facilities are all part of the ongoing expenses associated with the water system and the sewer system.

Revenues derived from the Stormwater Blue Heron fee are used for operation costs, maintenance, repair and replacement of the stormwater pumps that serve that development.  Revenues from the Storm Drainage fee are used for costs associated with maintaining, repairing, and replacing ditches, culverts, and underground storm drainage facilities in Halsey.

The City Council will meet and discuss on the proposed increase in these fees during the regular City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Halsey City Hall, 100 W. Halsey Street, Halsey, OR.

All citizens interested are encouraged to attend this meeting and provide comment or ask questions on the reason for the proposed increases.  If you have additional comments or concerns, please contact City Hall.
